Building engagement and confidence by training beyond the agility field – an Aginotes Interview

I was interviewed by AgiNotes, a cool and useful app created for tracking training and competition results.  See an excerpt and find a link to the full article below ! 🙂

we have goals, agility trainer, agility goals, teamwork, connection, agility goals, dog tricks, pyr shep

“For engagement, reward the little things and add some energy yourself into your training and play. The biggest tip for this is to have fun! Set your dog up for success and understanding. I think practicing skills so the dog is confident and you are confident is important- making training, agility and life in general more fun for both the dog and handler.”

WORKSHOPS: March 16th in Eugene

Excited to share that I will be teaching workshops Saturday, March 16th in Eugene, OR !  The workshop is split into four parts with opportunities for teams of every level to learn. 🙂

Ready Steady GO!

8:00-10:00 Start Lines are an essential part of every agility run, and can set a team up for success or…a learning moment. Develop your team’s start line setup and criteria for a clean, fast beginning to your runs, as well as strategies for clear negotiation of the first sequence of obstacles on the course.
Recommended level: Foundation 2 – Novice.

Reward Your Dog!

10:30-12:30 Running agility is rewarding for us, but what is rewarding for our dogs? Learn how to build a toolbox of rewards specific to your dog, as well as the crucial skills of reward timing and placement.
Recommended level: Foundation – Advanced.

Choices, Choices! Best Options for Handling Open Level Courses

1:00-3:00 Gain experience with analyzing course maps, finding the best lines between obstacles, and choosing which handling options are best for your team.
Recommended level: Intermediate/Open.

Let’s Talk Lines

3:30-5:30 Finding the ideal line for your dog can be increasingly difficult as you meet new course configurations and challenges. Learn more about how to find those lines and choose your handling strategies accordingly.
