A PYRWILD Update

A lot of (EXCITING) stuff has happened in the last couple months.

We relocated to Eugene, OR and now live in a lovely cottage in the trees.

I am also now teaching agility full-time @ Infinity Dog Sports and am over the moon over this opportunity.  I taught my first workshop last month and it was a huge success, too.  I feel so in my element teaching and am quite honored to be an instructor.  The community here has been so welcoming and kind.  It truly is a dream come true.

My life has 100% ‘gone to the dogs’ and I wouldn’t change a thing.  I look forward to all the opportunities that will continue to come my way and all that PYRWILD education grows.

Mayhem had a super time competing last month @ the Eugene trial.  He earned a Q/3rd in JWW saturday and a QQ with two first places sunday.  He’s now 5 QQ’s away from his championship.  I am looking forward to competing with him three days coming up this weekend again at Eugene.  We’re both having lots of fun- and that’s the key and most important part to me.  He’s such an incredible little dog.

I ended up pulling Zae’s World Team Tryout entry after his last competition some weekends ago.  His confidence has been lacking in the trial environment and I wouldn’t want to go to a big event like that unless we could truly push and do our best.  I will continue working to rebuild his confidence and focus at trials along with working on my own mental game at competitions.  We’ll show ’em what we’ve got next year.  🙂

Because, without a doubt, the skills are there.  The teamwork is there.  The love for playing the game together is there.

Here are some extreme weave scenarios I practiced with the skipskap last week.  He’s such a superstar and always surprises me with his brilliant success.  And yes, these were our ‘first tries’. 🙂

We’re still settling in but enjoying living in Eugene !  The dogs and I are quite happy to be an hour from the coast.  More photos from our beach adventures on Flickr.

What Makes PYRWILD Training Great

My goal as a trainer is not to overwhelm students, throw a bunch of sequences or crazy skills at them but to work and fine-tune teams to be their best.  I work with each student and their dog as the individual team they are at the level they are at or aspire to be.

I get to know each student and their dogs individually and truly want to help each and everyone of my students to achieve their goals.  I understand that each dog learns differently and so does each human.  My aim is to help each student be successful.

With a degree in philosophy, I have a very analytical mind and a natural eye for detail.  I am proud to offer reward-based training, well-rounded skills & analytical feedback to my students.  With an eye for detail, I am able to pinpoint little details and ultimately shape towards success.  In my online course content includes simple, efficient videos and detailed write ups to go along with them.

PYRWILD students get:

  • Feedback & guidance in training
  • Detailed and analytical information
  • Judgement free help and support
  • Personable connection
  • The aid of years of experience and knowledge
  • Education for the Human, Training for the Dog

Student Testimonials

“I have worked w/ lots of trainers in the last 25 years & shall continue to to visit the ones I like, but I LOVE how you break  it down incrementally; i.e. getting correctly from Point A to Point B & patiently teach how to do that.  It is SO cool how many mistakes you can see just between say like 2 or 3 jumps ! I am not naturally an “incremental” “attention to detail” person & I believe it is the key to our success.”
“…turns around the problems we were having and enabled us to win the Rescue Agility Finals. Although we are in completely different time zones Jessica replies within hours and is always ready to explain and explain again to enable us to fully understand (which is not always easy online as I have found out with previous instructors).”
“In preparation for EOJ this year with both of my dogs I have been taking an online class from Jessica. I feel more confident and can feel the connection between my dogs and I while running. Scrat has improved so much under her training/ mentoring. She has also gotten Shadows confidence and speed up at 16″ with the drills she suggests.”
“Super nice training with fast feedback in our online class! She really helped ous with our problem. We would go to a Class again”
“Jesi helped us to completely retrain our weaves during the summer break. The training plans were detailed but flexible and Jesi is very prompt with her feedback and is a lovely positive person to have on your team. Super happy with the improvements we have made. Highly recommend PyrWild!”
“A good teacher is hard to find; a nice teacher is also hard to find; and your words of wisdom with (my dog) are amazing.  I would not think of any other teacher..”
“(My dog) and I are looking forward to learning more.  You’re a fantastic instructor. Didn’t think I’d ever compete with (my dog). It was more of just something to keep her occupied. But she’s a fantastic dog. I’m the one holding her back.”
